Tata Motors India has officially launched the all-new Tata Nano CNG emax variant in the Indian market today. Bearing an official starting price tag of Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) for the Nano CX trim, the versions scale up the price up to Rs 2.65 lakh for the range topping LX trim. The new CNG emax variants were first showcased in June 2013 at Tata's new customer focused initiative called Horizonext. In this new CNG variant the same 624cc petrol engine from the TATA Nano's earlier version has been modified to accommodate the CNG and petrol bi-fuel system. Back in April we also told you about the TATA Nano Diesel Engine Revealed - The Cheapest Diesel Car In The Making?. Ankush Arora, Sr Vice President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit (Commercial), Tata Motors Ltd, said, "From its inception, the Nano has been a path-breaking invention and the CNG version only adds to that and also underlines our commitment to be a sustainable automotive player."

Claiming the lowest carbon footprint of 75.6 g/Km, the Tata Nano CNG is said to be the most fuel efficient car in the country with a fuel efficiency of 36 Km/Kg - That's the statement that the company is promoting the car with. The touring range in CNG mode is said to be 150 Km, in addition to the existing touring range of 375 Km in petrol mode. The sequential gas injection system of the Nano CNG emax, which is thoroughly calibrated with an intelligent advanced Engine Management System (EMS) allows the vehicle to sense when the drivers needs more power and thus, automatically shifts to petrol mode. What's more, the driver can switch between CNG and petrol modes on-the-fly with just a flick of a button.

As we look at the Tata Nano specifications, we find the CNG cylinders coming tightly packaged below the front seats, allowing for ample cabin space for passengers and luggage. The Nano CNG emax comes with best-in-class air conditioning, turning radius, passenger space and comfort, handsomely and stylishly appointed interiors making it a superlative vehicle in the segment. Safety features include, leak detection sensors and interlock sensor that automatically ensures that the engine is switched off during CNG gas filling.

Unveiling the Nano CNG emax at the launch ceremony, Mr Arora, said, "At Tata Motors, the core philosophy behind the launch of every new vehicle is anticipating what our customers need and blending it with the best-in-class technology and design engineering. This helps us arrive at an end product that suits the inherent automotive needs of our customers in a holistic way. From its inception, the Nano has been a path-breaking invention and the CNG version only adds to that and also underlines our commitment to be a sustainable automotive player."

Tata Motors is offering a warranty of up to 60,000 Km or 4 years, whichever is earlier on the Nano CNG emax. Here's some discussion triggering -
Some cities in India like New Delhi have adopted CNG for use by buses as well as cars to reduce vehicular pollution.
CNG also costs less than gasoline, making it a cheaper fuel for use by car owners.
Companies such as Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Honda Motor Co. and General Motors Co. already sell cars in India with CNG options.
Do you think that an eco-friendly variant of using CNG can propel you into buying the new Tata Nano?
