Stone Spray Project Robot Creates Strong Sand Structures [Video]

Architects Petr Novikov, Inder Shergill and Anna Kulik have created a robot capable of building structures out of soil. Forming 'solid' structures only out of soil is impossible, hence a binding material is used which is a proportional mixture of water and polypavement. The robotic nozzle sprays out the mixture of sand and solidifier. The structure created is solid enough to resist flow of water. Presently, the robot can be used to build mini-structures only. But future might unfold a stone spray that constructs resistant structures to provide shelter in emergency.

The project not only provides strong and stable structures but it is also eco-friendly, owing to the materials used for construction (soil, water, polypavement) being also 'green'. The robot is powered by solar energy and requires very little energy to operate. Check out the robot's functionality in the video below :
