Stepper Motor Driver circuit with binary decoder & Johnson Counter.
Project Abstract / Summary : The popular decade counter (CD4017) with decoded outputs is used here as a sequence generator. As we need only 4 outputs, the 5th output is connected to RESET pin (pin 15). The 4 outputs in conjunction with 4 n-p-n power transistors, function as half-power full-step drivers. In order to get full power, eight diodes (8*IN414B) are used. It can be adjusted to be used for both half-power & full-power, clock-wise & Counter clock-wise operation. The unused gates are very handy to be used as clock generator in conjunction with resistors & capacitors.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : Cost of the circuit is less than Rs 100. It is more convenient to use this circuit in place of drive circuits using micro-processors or micro-controllers, which would otherwise make the gadget unnecessarily costlier.
