Nova Innovation has granted a contract of building a tidal turbine set Nova-30, which will be stationed in the community scheme of Shetlands and utilized to power businesses, to Steel Engineering. The device shall be launched later this year, while it will be available for licensing from early 2013.

The Nova-30 (30kW) shall find itself positioned in the Bluemull Sound at Shetland, having already acquired the Crown Estate seabed lease and planning permission. The device shall be grid-connected, will attend the power needs of a local ice plant and industrial estate, while generating income for the community. Scottish Enterprise collaborated with Nova Innovation to pace up it's development.

He added that Scottish Enterprise would continue to back up Nova Innovation to help its pull off its growth plans, where one of the plans include installation of Shetland Tidal Array by 2014.
