I think today I'm working a lot to customize my favorite browser Firefox's newer version 4 and thus adding many new add-on.😎

One very useful add-on I found is Start Faster. As the name states, this add-on helps the browser to load much much faster than earlier. 😀

Explaination as provided:
A large proportion of the startup time is spent on loading the Firefox library(.dll, etc) files. Earlier when firefox people tried to speed up the browser start up by loading the Firefox binaries more efficiently on Windows, further testing revealed that to not be true in all cases and that the Windows Prefetch service was still killing the startup speed..
There is a DIY way to opt out of prefetch by gaining Administrator privileges and deleting files out of the prefetch directory. The plan is to provide a Windows service to handle Firefox updates. Additionally the service would be able to do useful things like delete prefetch files, defragment Firefox databases(or at least help report on fragmentation levels). This is all tricky stuff.

After installing the extension, “Faster Firefox” shortcut on the Desktop should result in up to 2x speed up in Firefox startup. This addon does not yet work on XP.

I think it's specific to Windows!

What about Linux? Is the same problem existing there also? Is there a linux version to this addon?

    Hello SS.
I've used this on Windows platform only.
I don't know about Linux. No information was provided by them also. If you're having Linux on your system, you can give it a try. 😀 And if you do, please share with us. Meanwhile I'll too search for some documentation.

    Hello SS.
Yes I tried this add-on. And believe me it works. Now my firefox load much much faster than ever before. And even it is very fast while restoring previous session.😀
