Project Abstract / Summary : The slitting process of adhesive tape implies slitting (cutting) by the slitting cutter. After a specific interval of time i.e. after being used (for cutting), the cutter loses its sharpness gradually i.e. the lip angle (cutting angle) changes. It is intended to maintain the lip angle again by grinding it.
Moreover, the grinding of slitting cutter is done by very few (3-4) firms in all over Maharashtra. Therefore, it becomes hectic, time consuming and expensive for the company to regrind cutters.
Hence, it was intended to make a special purpose machine for grinding of slitting cutter maintaining its lip angle and our machine was invented with the same motto.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : To solve an industrial problem.
The grinding of slitting cutter is done by very few (3-4) firms in all over Maharashtra. Therefore, it becomes hectic, time consuming and expensive for the company(manufacturing adhesive tapes in nashik) to regrind cutters.
