Sony unveils high speed XQD and SD mediacards for India

Sony recently launched a lineup of XQD and SD mediacard along with QDA-SB1, a USB XQD adapter and companion accessories like an XQD/SD Card reader .The company quotes that the cards are meant for professional photographers who work on high-speed DSLR cameras such as Nikon D5 or the Nikon D500. These XQD and SD cards will be available in 32, 64 and 128 GB variants. The pricing starts from Rs. 3,500 reaching until Rs. 11,545.

The Japanese tech giant claims to have launched world's first XQD/SD card reader, MRW-E90, with a USB - XQD adapter, the QDA-SB1. The QDA-SB1 is priced at Rs. 1,490. The Sony MRW-E90 supports ultra-high speed data transfer to a PC from all XQD series and UHS-II SD cards. The QDA-SB1 adapter is compatible with the M and G Series XQD cards, and comes with an extension USB cable which effectively curbs the need to keep the card within close proximity of the computer or the USB port.

There is an option to add deleted photos and videos covering RAW images, mov files, and 4K XAVC-S video files which can be restored using File Rescue software. This latest card reader technology can also backup 64 GB of data in approximately 3 minutes delivering transfer speed of up to 440MB/s (read) and 150MB/s (write) -(XQD-M series). The cards are slated to be dust-proof, X-ray proof, anti-static, and magnet proof, protecting the content in rough use thereby making them durable as well. The cards and accessories will be available in India starting March 20.
