However, the company was quick to assure that no credit card information has been yet stolen from the compromised sites. This, fresh news of attacks come at a time when the firm is already reeling under a lot of pressure to restore the Play Station Network and Qriocity music services before its next deadline finishes. This web attack is bound to have a negative effect on the image of the huge corporation as many consumers have already started losing trust in its online security. Besides Greece, many user accounts in Japan and Indonesia also got breached. The Sony spokesperson said that there was a large data theft that included email addresses, telephone numbers, names and passwords but that credit card data had not been stolen in the latest attacks.

#-Link-Snipped-#Market analysts and business experts believe that such type of incidents is causing a negative publicity of this Japanese entertainment and technology giant. Such security issues lead to a dip in the trust of the users. A fall in the brand image can hamper its effort of providing cloud based entertainment services in gaming, music and other related network services.

The Greek Sony Music Entertainment website noticed some illegal activity and the service were immediately shut down indefinitely on Sunday. The pages on the Indonesian Music Entertainment website were also found to be somewhat altered though it could not be confirmed as a hacker’s job. The Thailand division was found to be subjected to illegitimate and the website was used as a tool for phishing attack.

After these attacks, the total comes to some 100 million accounts that have been hacked. The PSN and other online services have been shut down since 20th April. It has been one of the worst information thefts since the advent of the internet and will cost millions of dollars to the company.

Sony however remains confident that the PSN and Qriocity will be restored till the end of this month.
