Sony PlayStation 4 With 8-Core AMD 'Jaguar' CPU Unveiled

With all the rumors surrounding the release of Sony's gaming console, the PlayStation 4, it was finally unveiled at Sony's press event yesterday. And this time Sony is claiming the PS4 to have a PC-like configuration.

The PS4 includes an 8-Core x86 CPU, codenamed 'Jaguar' built by AMD. It houses a Radeon GPU which comprises of 18 compute units, capable of performing 1.84 TFlops of graphics processing and more. It also has a Blu-ray drive, spinning at 6X (DVDs spin at 8X). An unified GDDR5 RAM of 8 GB is also packed which has a bandwidth capability of 176 GB/sec. The other things included are WiFi, USB 3.0, Bluetooth 2.1, HDMI, optical out and a legacy analog AV out for input and output. Sony is yet to reveal on the storage.

Many minute features like cross-game chat have been added. Now Sony Entertainment Network (previously PlayStation Network) lets you connect to Facebook also. The design of the PS4 is still in the dark since Sony did not display the console in their press event. And still there are many specs which are yet to be known.
