    ... socket programming is possible as long as you have a IP address and a port associated with your mobile and as far as I know, your mobile phone uses your service provider's network ( mobiel network) to conenct to internet , so no IP address is associated .

    Any other thoughts?

    Dude, why you want to replace mobile networking[ definitely better than socket connection] with socket connection ?
