Soc design engineer

I am presently pursuing my B.E.Electrical and electronics engineering . I plan to do a M.S in Electronics after my Under graduation. The problem is that I am not sure about the field in which I would do my M.S. I know its a matter of personal interest but I am confused over the dozen of fields which are offered in electronics.
Initially i was interested in telecommunication but from what it seems , nowadays telecommunication is mostly mathematics and algorithm development. Same goes with DSP as well.(Thing is , I want to go on the hardware side of things and not the software).
At present , I am doing a 6 month internship at ST microelectronics , noida as a part of my college course. There I am working on structural verification of analog cores of a SOC being developed by STM. Working here, I have started liking the SOC design field .
Can u suggest me which M.S field should I go for to be a SOC design engineer.(I think it maybe one of VLSI and embedded systems, but not sure)
Also, can u give me names of some good universities , both indian and foreign , which offers M.S in my field of interest.
