Skype iPad App Released! It's Free & Works On 3G & Wi-Fi - (Update: Removed)

The wait is over! Skype has released Skype App for iPad on iTunes New Zealand Store. It will take just few hours for the app to reach other parts of the world. Typically app releases like this one first appear on New Zealand iTunes store and then debut in other parts of the world depending on the time zone. The app has been in demand since long time and finally, we'll be able to make some real use of our iPads.

The iPad version of the Skype App supports all features it has on the iPhone. TUAW #-Link-Snipped-# that the app supports all the features on original iPad other than two way video chat (no front camera on iPad). The iPad 2 of course has full video conferencing support with both front and rear cameras.

Skype For iPad Original & iPad 2 Released

The Skype for iPad is free and capable of making video calls over 3G and Wi-Fi. The app has been released under "social networking" category of iTunes with following details -

Update: The app has been temporarily pulled out. Skype said on Twitter, "To ensure your best Skype experience, we've temporarily removed Skype for iPad which went live prematurely today," & "We know you've been eagerly awaiting Skype for iPad and apologize for the inconvenience.
