Dear CEans,

On December 2nd we posted a list of the Vote Now - Top 5 Entries: 'Engineering For Change In India' Project Report Contest which we believed were better among all the submissions. We asked all of you to help us pick the top entries via polling. Obviously, we failed to consider the biggest issue of spammed voting - aka people registering only to vote for their favorite contestant.

Several members, including the participants and the voters contacted us individually and expressed their concern over the fairness of the process. We acknowledge that this is one of the serious concern and an oversight from us. We examined the profile of every voter and found out that many registered only to vote for their favorite candidate.

How do we pick up the winners then?

It turns out that voting isn't the best way to pick the winners. For us, all the top 5 entries are winners. Yet, we decided to take a very critical look at the applications and pick the top 3. We had internal debates and discussions but have finally picked up our top 3 winners.

We'll announce the results at 12:30 PM today 😀 in the announcements section.

    Update:

Lot of importance is given to the following factors during our final review; not in the order they are listed below
    • Originality of the idea
    • Overall impact of the idea on the lives of people
    • Description of the problem and the proposed solution
    • Time and Cost Estimation
