French architect Jacques Rougerie and a group of engineers have teamed up to create what's being called the "ultimate" undersea #-Link-Snipped-#. Like an iceberg, a large section of the #-Link-Snipped-# will operate underwater while a significant portion of the structure will remain exposed. Built entirely of recycled aluminum, the 500 ton ship will explore the endless possibilities of undersea construction.

The seaorbiter link is down, so can't access details of the ship. Does it go deep down in the sea? If yes, how deep? And - will it be mainly used for monitoring the undersea construction or will also be put to study the deep sea life?

It floats partially submerged. All the labs are below seal level for permanent access to divers and equipment. It just drifts with the currents. So long duration off shore work is possible. The design appears to make it storm proof even though part of it is exposed. Below the sea level it has spacious labs and observation ports. Apparently it has a crew of 18. It is meant for exploring the deep seas as well using on board submarine modules. The movie shows most of these concepts.
