  • The pro gadget information leaker @evleaks has again outed a news and this time it's about Samsung’s new Chromebook which seems to be its target. According to a report in TechCrunch, the Chrome-OS powered notebook appears to sport the Samsung’s new trademark faux leather cover. Images tweeted by #-Link-Snipped-# suggest that the back of the lid is wrapped in textured fake black leather with stitching around the edges, much like last year's Galaxy Note 3 and the recently announced Black Edition of the Galaxy S4 smartphone.

Samsung has also applied this kind of style to its Note and Galaxy S5 smartphones, and that is gaining much popularity. Further, the report has it that the look has a luxury appeal to an otherwise fairly drab design, and it at least manages to distinguish the Samsung devices from its peers. There is nothing much to take out from these pictures, except that it will at least have one USB port and one 3.5mm stereo jack, for audio out. The company hasn’t had a new version (currently Series 3 model) of its plastic Chromebook since its release in October, 2012. More recent releases from its counterparts have outclassed the aging notebook in almost every regard.

However, the South Korean electronics giant might be readying a refresh as there were hints of the new Chromebook last month on the B&H Photo Web site that the notebook lineup would soon get updated with 11.6- and 13.3-inch models. The new laptops, priced at $299 and $399 respectively, were reportedly listed for pre-orders on the retailer's site. However, there were no details as to what would power the new devices or when they might land in consumers' hands. But one thing is for sure, it is definitely due for an upgrade and seems like we won't have to wait too long for it.
