Samsung Youm: Flexible, Unbreakable AMOLED Display
Samsung's flexible, unbreakable AMOLED displays will be called 'Youm'. Those who know Korean may check out Samsung's new page dedicated to Youm: www.samsungsmd.com . Samsung's engineers have been focusing on creating flexible displays for a long time now and AMOLED seems to be the way to the future. The only difference between the regular AMOLED and the Flexible AMOLED displays (YOUM) is that the later uses film instead of glass. It's expected that the Youm will be released somewhere during late 2012 or in the first quarter of 2013.

The question however remains: Where are flexible AMOLED displays are going to be installed? Human eyes are trained to read on flat surfaces and reading on flexible displays is going to be pain; unless they're fairly big in number. I suspect the flexible displays will find their best application in the advertisements and display banner industry. Other than that, I wonder why would anyone want a flexible phone?
