After years of teasing, Samsung seems to be gearing up for mass production of the uber cool flexible #-Link-Snipped-#displays by 2012. Samsung's leading Galaxy phone series boasts of the latest AMOLED displays which are the best in the industry. Taking a step ahead, Samsung now wants to offer flexible AMOLED displays for mass consumption. It won't be too far that we'll see bendable phones. There are rumors that the next version of Samsung Galaxy phone, called Samsung Galaxy S3 may have a cylindrical display. It would be interesting to find out how it develops.

It's easy to guess that Samsung will introduce these displays in a new lineup of mobile phones, tablets and wrist watches. Samsung's Mobile Devision (SMD) recently partnered with Japanese Ube Kosan clearly indicating Samsung's plan for the mass production of flexible AMOLD displays. Ube Kosan is a Japanese company which has capabilities to provide plastic substrate material required in production of bendable AMOLED displays to Samsung Mobile Division. Following photo shows first Samsung Flexible AMOLED Display with the following configuration: 4.5" wide, 480x800 pixel resolution, <1 cm bending radius.,  0.27mm thickness, 16.7M color depth, 300 cd/m² brightness.
