Samsung 840 EVO mSATA is world's first 1TB SSD

Samsung has introduced world's first 1TB mSATA SSD. Note that 1TB SSDs aren't new, but for the first time; Samsung's engineers were manage to shrink the size of the SSD by about 60%! The SSD is an extension of Samsung's 840 EVO lineup which the company launched in July this year at the Solid State Drives Global Summit. It offers about 98k random read and about 90k random write IOPS aka Input Output Operations Per Second.

Users will be able to enjoy sequential read & write speeds of about 540 MB/s & 520 MB/s respectively. The drive uses Samsung's 128 Gb NAND flash memory based on 10 nm class process technology. A total of four such memory chips form a TB of storage; with each pack comprising of 16 layers of 128 Gb chips. The drive is just 3.85 mm thick and weighs about 8.5 grams.

The drives are expected to ship in your country by end of this month.
