Clip Art, which survived for around a decade will now no longer be a part of Office. Yes, you heard it right. Microsoft has finally pulled off the iconic Clip Art Image library citing the decline in its usage over the years as the main reason for its withdrawal. However, the age-old Clip Art will always be remembered by the â90s people for home-printed greeting cards, crappy drawings, business presentation slides, and decorated middle school science homework projects. In its blog, Microsoft has officially announced that it is withdrawing Clip Art Image library.
In a world where internet connection is omnipresent and a plethora of new images can be downloaded, the move to drop Clip Art will not disappoint many users. According to the blog post, usage of Officeâs image library has been declining year-to-year as people prefer and rely more on search engines. Further, the Clip Artâs online Image library has been replaced with Bing image search. This implies that users who will search for online images inside Office will now be redirected to a gallery containing Bing Images. The Bing image library will gather results from around the web and users will be able to share and modify the images as per their personal use. Moreover, the Bing Image Search will offer high quality and more up-to-date images.
As far as the roll out of this update is concerned, Office 2013, 2010 and 2007 will see the Clip Art library replaced by Bing Images. For accessing Bing images in Office 2013, users will have to click on âInsertâ, then âOnline Picturesâ whereas for Office 2010 and Office 2007, users need to go to âInsertâ and then âClip Artâ to search for Bing images.
