Reliance 4G LTE Service Testing To Begin In Mumbai, Delhi & Jamnagar
India's leading telecom service provider, Reliance is rolling up its sleeves to launch the 4G services across various circles in India. A significant step in this direction is likely to be taken soon as Reliance Gio Infocomm has obtained approval for 10000 mobile numbers to test the service in Mumbai, Delhi and Jamnagar. Out of these 10k numbers, 4k numbers will be tested in Mumbai and Delhi each and remaining 3K will be tested in Jamnagar, Gujarat. During the testing period, the selected customers will be allowed to make calls to other telecom networks all over India. We learn that Reliance rival telecom companies aren't happy with it because Reliance is the only company that holds 4G license nationwide. They're contesting whether Reliance should be allowed to connect to existing 3G networks for video/voice calling.
It's expected that Reliance will disrupt the 4G markets in India which is currently dominated by Airtel, which became the first telecom network operator in India to offer 4G LTE in India starting with Kolkata, Bangaluru, Pune and Chandigadh.
As we've discussed in the past, 4G isn't for everything just yet. You will need a capable hardware to be able to experience 4G connectivity and most of the cell phones currently available in India aren't 4G LTE enabled.
We look forward to the launch of Reliance 4G. What about you?
