Read the kilowatts hour used

I want to design a project that will read the kilowatts hour used. once the limit has been reached the circuit breaker should shedd the load. My problem is design the circiut that will read the kilowatts hour used. please assist. This is my university project.

    Have you considered a contactor/relay type setup instead of the breaker?

    Try with some metering devices from Schneider, ABB, Siemens or some other manufacturers. You can use wiring diagram from devices and adjust it for your needs. In any case you will need CTs and/or VTs.
