Well, we considered that idea before. I doubt whether college principals will agree to put so many notices. We may increase the number of posters for various departments to 5.
Also, putting up posters in canteen can be taken up by individual members for their respective colleges.

it depends from college to college whether they allowed to put up so many posters or not..in our college except from dean's notice board you can put as many posters as you want on other notice boards....and without dean's permission...

I think if some active members of CE deliver some sort of presentation or seminar about CE in their regional engineering colleges. Then this will be great impact on students as well as college administration. Posters are also a good idea. I am planning to promote CE my own college and Noida & Greater Noida Region.(Lots of Engineering colleges are there).

Posters is a quick way to reach all our potential members. I guess 5 posters (average) /college will do the job. I'll work out the budget and may increase the number. Will keep you all informed.
We'll try to keep the content on posters minimum. Just a small introduction of CE and how it can benefit students - for free. I believe that should attract lot of students who will eventually join CE and be active here.
As suggested above, we may include some information about small talks, how CE can help in projects/seminars and also help in getting jobs, preparing for interviews and at the same time improve technical knowledge.

well to say each branch one poster might be sufficient. In india as far as i know students when they come online get much into chatting rather than posting a bit about what they know in forums and etc... These days its developing a lot. I could host a small paper presentation in our seminar hall for our branch about CE explain them what it is to share ideas and do something new. I myself couldnt post much because of my stress levels but there are students who get into this stuff soon enough.
The main problem is with the prof's and other faculty who donot understand what it means to share ideas on the internet, if there were like a group for each city from CE who can go to each college when they are free and educate people that would be helpful in a lot of ways( Just a suggestion 😛).

In my point of view there are about 16000 student in my collage amogs them only 2 can sufr this site becasuse though they are vists this CE they think that it is western site & they leave it
But if you post poster in collage campus then they fell more familear with CE.

promotion of CE in colleges is very important. students hardly even know about the existence of CE and thus awareness needs to be created.
Like many have pointed out. We need posters. But I dont think more than 3 is a good idea. College notice board, canteen and library is enough. Am a member of my college's fest mgmt group and we send posters to more than 1200 colleges all over india and i have noticed that most of them fall on deaf ears. The couriers will reach but most of them are not put up at all. Also some colleges are not ready to put up more than 1 poster siting their own reasons. Remember, colleges receive scores of them throughout the year so that can really be the problem.
Instead of sending them by courier(i dont know whats ur plan), a group of students(existing CE members) could travel around in colleges of same area. For eg in Mumbai n Pune there are many colleges and most of them are close together. So in a day some 5-6 colleges can be covered. If a college has CE members then courier it to them n let them manage. In case the group goes to the colleges, let them speak to the authority there in person and persuade to put up the poster there n then itself.The poster wont go waste atleast. A 15-30 min demo could be arranged by these groups to the faculty members explaining about Ce , its role and its importance. In some cases, small seminars could be taken for the students. I think Big K is qualified enough to do so with interviews and an entrepreneurial role in his flagship company under his belt. He could give seminar on topics on how to be an entrepreneur and the like. Colleges will definitely prefer such things more than anything else. Hold small contests in colleges to encourage participation in CE. Keep it easy and simple. If people think they can win , they will participate more enthusiastically.
make flash presentations about CE, make cds and give them to college along with posters. These could be put up in the computers in their computer labs on start up. So everyone starting their pc will see it. This is a good promo style. Works for us. All students need to use computers sometime or the other.
Come up with sponsorships in college fests in smaller colleges. Their sponsorship demands are generally low and is a good untapped market.
There's a site. knowafest.com i think. They promote college fests. I think CE can do this better with such a wide and big reach.

Sponsoring a techfest does not work well. Every day I receive requests for sponsorships and the amount is in the range of INR 25,000 - 3,00,000.
That is certainly not justified. I believe the best way to get more members is to put awesome content on the website. There are many engineers out there who want to participate in such discussions. Let search engines bring them to us.
I however like the other ideas discussed in the post above. I'll comment on them soon.

Do not look for sponsorship only in college techfests. Many college keep regular workshops, seminars and small engg events. Sponsoring in these intra college events will be cheap ranging from 5k to 10k. Can be less if lucky. Again, big, reputed colleges will demand more so its better to stay out of them for now. Smaller colleges will give us a huge untapped market.
Also i personally like the idea of K going out to colleges and giving out seminars. He has set a good example for 'aiming to be young entrepreneurs' and can give them speech on related topics. That will promote CE in a big way. ( Come to my college definitely if u plan to do so ;-))
Check this #-Link-Snipped-#. They promote college fests and events and in turn get their brand promoted at their events. They have moved a big interest among the colleges.
CE with such a bigger base can do this kind of job better. We can even have a separate page on CE site for this purpose. It will get us good attention and presence in colleges. Its not too difficult for CE to do it.
When marketing CE to colleges, dont make it look like we have come there to market ourselves. Give them something that they can make use of(like seminars, workshops and the likes) and they will allow us into their college if they will like it. This will automatically create the publicity we need.

Well, we have CE events section to take care of our partnerships with various techfests and almost every day I receive a new partnership request. However, I've found out that we do not benefit much from these associations.
The idea of reaching out to colleges personally is good. We need volunteers for that.

Well i agree with Opty,Biggie i want to know from you have you Started promotion in UP or not..my college IET lucknow is the UPTU campus college.i am right now in my training period so not availble in college but can be ask to juniors to spread.and also from 11th march to 14 march cultural and technical fest "Encore" is also goin to be start.In which if some outsiders CE come as college representatives and give the presentation about CE then it will be good enough and that time posters will also be good cause branch wise student visit the whole college as activities are going to be from one department to other.

i agree with opti, even i did not know about CE. i was looking for some programming help on google that lead me to CE.
more than above mentioned ideas, i would add my 2 cents. most of colleges have their forums too. you can post a thread (NOT VIOLATING TERMS OF FORUM) to make student aware of CE.
i can even name few colleges which surely have forums IIT-D, NSIT, DCE, BITS

My apologies for not checking out this thread. UP is yet to be covered, however we did send posters to few of the colleges (around 10, I guess).
The activity has been put on hold right now; because we didn't receive the response we expected.
The strategy now is to redesign better posters (larger ones) and send them to our CEans so that they can put it in their campus on their own.

I can send you the posters and if possible you can go and paste it in all the nearby engineering colleges. If it's not possible for you to go personally, you can hand over the posters to friends or local final year students.
As a proof of the posters being actually pasted in the engineering college, all the CEans can upload 1 or 2 sample photos of the wall OR Noticeboard.

Our collage is going to organize national event in February. I think at that time we have great opportunity to interact with more than 2600 students (1500 from my collage + 1000 from other collage mostly from NMU university.) In CE family we have very less number of NMU student. If we can do anything in that event it is defiantly good opportunity for us.
My focus especially on that 1000 students who are interested in other activity.

5(for large colleges provide 8-10) posters each with different design sure make an impression on CE. Also try to appoint the campus representative for CE for each college through this forum and let them convey our idea. Try to mail the college authorities(principal or HOD's) and interact with them using moderators. I believe there are a lot to tell about CE in posters. Some of my views about CE
* It is place where the students can meet the real engineers from industry and can learn a lot from them their experience.
* The students can get an idea of how the things they read in books were implemented in industries and it will make them to show more interests towards academic.
* CE can make the engineers a broad minded one as they can interact with other field/domain engineers. This will sure invoke innovative ideas in student minds.
* Recent trends in Engineering is well discussed here to ensure that the students are upto date.
* Students can make them self comfortable on discussion, interaction and sharing their ideas through CE which most of the engineers lacking now.

No Actually my plan is to go to college in person wearing the Ce -Tee, and explaining the benefits to Principal with an appointment such that it helps him to understand what CE is all about and he will eventually encourage students to join CE.
In my college, I was a 06 pass out , I can go there too. I have few colleges in mind where I know few people in person ( lecturers etc) which helps in putting up the poster easily.
But my intention is students should take the notice seriously, which would be more possible if principal is interested in that, he can motivate students!!
Anyway let me give a try and will update how it is working out ..

I cannot. There are some problems. By the way presently I can guarantee only my college (all departments).
I only want to suggest her that all regular CEans who are regular in CE are from different colleges and all hail from Nagpur. So Admin can hand over 1-2 poster to each of them and the work can be done.

well that is what I am saying. I will start with 1-2 posters from my college. Presently I am neck deep in my project. When I will get some time, I can ask you for more posters to be distributed among my friends. ( I will also personally see that they do display them on their notice boards)
Being in Nagpur, it would be easy for you to hand me those posters each time.
