Raspberry Pi based wireless control of projector using Zigbee

Project Abstract / Summary : As we have a standard procedure to use a projector is, we connect an external device to our computer and then computer is connected to projector. Then we run the file to be displayed on screen in CPU with its operating system. Here in this project we have implemented the same thing with the help of microcontroller so that the bulky set up of CPU and wiring set-up can be reduced and can be used by wireless media that one can operate the system without being at the same place for long time.
On the transmitter side there is an ARM7 microcontroller connected to the Zigbee and an operating tool like touch screen. The access to the PPTs or the PDFs to be displayed is on transmitter side. We have used Touch Screen for drawing characters, diagrams and performing various operations on file like open, close, edit etc. These characters are recognized using microcontroller. Recognized character is displayed on Graphical LCD. And then it is transmitted via Zigbee protocol to receiver side. The role of CPU is done by Raspberry Pi which provides USB interface to connect external devices such as pen drive, external hard disk. A LINUX based operating system Raspbian is installed in Raspberry Pi that will help to operate pen drive or externally connected device operations.

Why did you choose to work on this project topic : As we know to give presentation we need PC/laptop along with projector & complicated wiring set up. To avoid this i have tried to make this whole set up portable, easy to handle & wireless.
I have used credit card size computer i.e. Raspberry Pi which makes computing even more easy & affordable. It uses Linux based OS, Raspbian which is open source OS. And wireless protocol Zigbee which consumes low power & has wider operating range.
Future scope:
To make this project more user friendly by using android portable device so that anybody can control projector right from his android phone & it is also possible to develop android app for this particular task which makes it more affordable.
