PS3 Firmware Update 3.61 Available, PSN Phased Restoration Begins

Sony has just announced the availability of Playstation 3 System Update with firmware version 3.61. Sony is issuing this mandatory update to all PS3 systems which will require users to update their Playstation & Qriocity network passwords. Obviously, updating your password is one of the first steps all users are required to make sure that their accounts are safe. Be sure to use combination of small & capital letters, numbers and special characters in your password so that it's not easily cracked. Sony further announced the phased restoration of their networks. Kaz Hirai's announcement video is available below.

@Xirtap: You will have to wait for some more time. The Playstation Network being restored step by step and it could be a while before it's restored in Ireland.

@annalise: To the best of my knowledge, PS3 device and network are two separate entities. If you buy new PS3, you'll be able to login to your PSN account with your user credentials.
