While we've already started saving for the #-Link-Snipped-# from Sony, the company has a little surprise for all of us. The photos of trimmed down version of PlayStation have appeared on the Internet. The new version is smaller than PS3 Slim and carries the model number CECH-4011A/B/C. The machine retains the overall look and feel of the current generation of Playstation, but it's clearly much slimmer. See -

From what we gather from the photos is that the new 'slim PS3' accepts the game disks via a lid that opens and not through a system that pulls the disk when inserted. The mechanism certainly occupies less space allowing the engineers to make the PS3 slimmer. We also learn that the new PS3 will ship in three different storage capacities viz. 160 GB, 320 GB and 500 GB.  But the 160 GB model is just our guess based on PS3 history. If you are not willing to accept the typo in the official looking spec sheet (below); you might want to settle for the 16 GB model -

We'd hope Sony will stick to the current pricing model for the new PS3. We expect the power consumption of the new system will be lesser than the regular PS3. Rest, we don't expect any change in the hardware department.

We'd like to hear your views on the new PS3.
