Sony officially launched the next generation playstation portable device and while the codename is indeed 'NGP', the official name is PlayStation Vita aka PS Vita. Vita was launched at the E3 conference at Lost Angeles few hours ago. Vita means 'life' in Latin and Sony claims that the new device pumps life in the next generation of handheld gaming devices. First things first - PS Vita features a 5" big OLED  aka organic light emitting diode, multi-touch screen. We believe the screen size is really big for a handheld device. More real estate to display graphics means more enjoyable gaming experience. The screen resolution is 960 x 544 pixels which is nice. PS Vita offers two analog control sticks, touch controls at the back side of device, 6-axis motion sensor for added pizza to your game enjoyment. The surprising addition is presence of rear and front facing cameras. Now comes the awesomeness - PS Vita features quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor. This clearly means the graphics quality on Vita will be second to none.

Sony has worked out ample connectivity options on Vita. It features 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. In the US, AT&T will be the exclusive 3G partner for Sony's Vita. Official pricing of PS Vita is as follows -

Wi-Fi Model: 24,980 Yen (including tax), $249 and euro 249
3G + Wi-Fi Model: 29,980 Yen (including tax), $299 and euro 299

The device will be made available in various parts of the world by the end of 2011. So we've long time to get our hands on this device but the good news is that developers will have some more time to develop eye-popping games for PS Vita.
