prompt over login screen

is there any way to get dos prompt over login screen ?
like when my system boots up it shows up the user name and password but instead of logging in i want a dos prompt there, can it be done?

i thing it can be done.
we can simply rename any exe program that gets started during boot up to cmd.exe.
and it works.
actually i have not yet tried it but it can work
