Possibility of wireless transmission of Electricity ?

Is it possibile to transmit Electrical Energy without wire ?
If yes then in which stage the research is?

    i think the electrical energy may converted into microwave and at the receiving end the microwave is converted into electrical energy. but the microwave passage should be straight not scattered.

    If a super conducting coil is placed near by a receiver , if placed properly can take the power from the excited conductor!
