PNNL Helps Start-up Companies Grow By Targeting Bedbugs!

The technological entrepreneurship is on the rise with government's #-Link-Snipped-# aimed at helping young businesses grow. PNNL has signed agreements with three start-up firms for developing technologies like detecting insects behind a barrier, reducing cost of #-Link-Snipped-# and #-Link-Snipped-#. Moreover the start-up companies will be given a chance to patent the solutions that they will develop at a fractional cost of $1000!

In this initiative Jessup, Md. based Vorbeck materials are trying to develop tiny Titanium oxides and carbon structure that will be useful in increasing the capacity of Lithium electrodes in the Li-ion batteries. The project is aimed at enhancing the life and capacity of the battery. If this comes true the automobile industry will be the greatest beneficiary owing to the fact that many auto giants are focusing their attention on developing #-Link-Snipped-#.

Another agreement is based on millimeter wave technology developed by PNNL with grants from Federal Aviation Administration to check Air line passengers underneath their clothing using harmless radiations. This time in the project licensed to Corvallis, Ore. based Visiray aims to detect bugs and insects behind a veil or a barrier. This is feasible because the millimeter wave technology has earlier been tested for finding even metal components in the aviation sector.

The third technology is about reducing the cost of fuel cells by finding out solutions for proper replacements of constituents. Evaxa Energy Systems is handling this project of reducing the cost of Polymer Electrolyte Membrane (PEM) cells and aims to lower the cost to two thirds the present. In other words, #-Link-Snipped-# at lower cost from #-Link-Snipped-#!

All these technologies assigned to be developed by businesses directly are bound to develop as a commercial solutions rather than just remaining in laboratories for years. PNNL: News - PNNL-developed technologies licensed via Startup America with these start-up companies will soon show results and will be assimilated in the industry soon after.
