Pinterest Unveils New Visual Discovery Tools 'Shop The Look' And 'Instant Ideas'

Pinterest's three new visual discovery tools are here to aid users in their quest for new ideas. With the new tools provided by Pinterest, one can use anything they see, whether online or in physical world, to discover products and ideas.

At the end of 2015 Pinterest introduced a way to pinpoint different items in a pin. Now with Shop the Look tool, users can not only track down but also buy what they see in fashion and home décor pins. Users can tap the circle on each item to find the styles they are looking for and can also see what other people have paired it with for more ideas on how to wear it. For buying, one can check out on Pinterest or get things directly from retailer.


Next in line is the Instant Ideas tool. Users can now modify their feed by tapping on the circle that they see at the bottom of a pin to see related Pins. In this way, the feed will get even more personalized delivering the very best ideas that people are loving on Pinterest.


Now it is possible to search for objects they see in physical world by using the Pinterest Lens tool. It allows people to use the camera in the Pinterest app to discover ideas inspired by objects around them. Users can point to an object, say a pair of shoes, to tap to see related styles. It can even be used to find a furniture of a specific kind or recipes of food. For now, Lens works best for finding home decor ideas, things to wear and food to eat. As more and more people give it a try, and Pinterest continues making improvements to the technology, results will get even better, and the range of objects Lens recognizes will get increasingly wider.
