Piaggio Vespa S Launched At Rs. 75K - Will The New Ride Win Indian Hearts?
Piaggio, the Italian automobile brand, has launched a brand new two-wheeler in India with 'Vespa S'. We believe that the S in name stands for its sporty styling. Oh well, the all-new Vespa S is the third entrant in the Vespa Series for Indian market with the first two being Vespa LX and VX. The newly designed bike sports Piaggio's typical minimalist design and we think that the square headlight and mirrors give it more of a retro look than a sport one. Powered by a 125 cc Engine, the Vespa S features 3 Valve, Aluminium Cylinder Head. The engine delivers a power of 10.06 PS @ 7500 RPM and a Max Torque of 10.6 Nm @ 6000 RPM. Wrapped inside the Monocoque Full - Steel Body Construction, Vespa S specs speak of a Continuous Variable Transmission, Aircraft derived single side arm Front Suspension with Anti-Dive characteristics, Rear Suspension with Dual-Eect Hydraulic Shock Absorber and an Auto Ignition system.
Just like Vespa VX model, this one also features 200 mm ventilated front disc brake and 140 mm rear drum brake diameter as well as tubeless tyres. The two-wheeler sports Link Spring mechanism between engine and frame. There's the stabilizing torque, low speed balance, accurate steering and high speed stability built-in too. In addition to that, there are 3-Spoke, black alloy combination wheels on Vespa S.
When it comes to chrome complementing looks and craftsmanship, the bike brings in new black V shape grill with horizontal slats and black bumper applique. There's also the never-seen-before two-step crystal taillight. The new contour seats offer sufficient room and the curvy design helps make the ride steady. Among the accessories, the buyers can have front fender chrome bumper, mat foot rest, perimeter fixing kit and the regular black seat cover.
Available in 4 colours â matt black, orange, red and white, the Piaggio Vespa S is launched by Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited at the hands of Bollywood star - Imraan Khan at a press event. Mr. Ravi Chopra, the Chairman and Managing Director for the company thinks that the new ride will appeal a lot to the young consumers of India. The official price in India for the Vespa S is slated at Rs. 76,495 (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Moving further, the company also plans to launch the Vespa 946 model with a pocket-burning Rs 8-9 lakh price tag.
That's all about the price, specs and features of the all-new Vespa S. What do you think about the new wheels in town? Will it appeal to Indian consumers? Share your opinions in comments below.
