Whenever anyone thinks about a perfect future home, sensors are the must entities. You can use them for almost everything, to taste your food, to check your room temperature, to tell you how much tired you are et al. Now, Philips has developed world’s first ErgoSensor which will help you to manage your posture while you are using a monitor. It can tell you to sit straight, keep a distance, take a break and it can even turn off completely!

The new ErgoSensor monitor is a 24 inch LCD full HD display with a resolution of 1980*1080 pixels. It has the sensor embedded in the monitor. The Sensor checks the distance between your pupils to know your position. If you are sitting too close, it will flash a warning message to sit away. It can also sense if you are looking at the display from a wrong angle. If your neck is titled in a wrong ergonomic posture, it will tell you to sit straight. If you are sitting in front it for a long time, it will also suggest you to take a break! One more interesting thing about the monitor is, it also senses if anyone is sitting in front of it or not. If you leave your seat, it will automatically power off itself. Philips claims it can reduce power consumption up to 80% using this method. A new feature named SmartErgoBase helps you to adjust the display by tilting or rotating it, so it can fit into your posture and sensor could be satisfied!

The software which helps the ErgoSensor is developed by DigitalOptics Corporation in partnership with MMD Monitors and Display Taiwan Ltd. The monitor is currently available only on #-Link-Snipped-#. The price of the product is set 285 euros. There is no news about when this product will be launched in other countries.
