Hello CEans,

I have developed one Hardware in which I'm controlling Home Appliances like Bulb, Fan,TV etc with one RF Remote.

Now what I'm thinking is that how if we are going to develop one GUI (PC Application) by which you can control your home appliances with simple one button click?

I want help from CS/IT CEans for such application, CEan-Praveen is ready for this I have talked with him. If any other CEans are interested then they are most welcome.

We are going to dedicate this application and hardware to CE.

After that we can share its Hardware and software or a Ready Product !! πŸ˜€

What you say Guys?

Interesting. Which language are we gonna use? I think VB would be straight forward.. Java would do too.. πŸ˜€

That's depend on CS/IT guys what they want to use. In this Application they have to send some strings to the COM Port which is predefined. Application Look should be *AWESOME* πŸ˜€

I can help you in working with the User Interface, but I need full support for the integration of my PC Software with the hardware, like the device and drivers, etc. πŸ˜€

Hardware is going to connect directly to PC-Serial Com Port for the first stage. πŸ˜€ let me know if you want any more detail. πŸ˜€

So, are we suppose to use it via Hyperterminal or something to read stuff? And what output is it gonna give to the serial input of PC?

Yes Right now i am using Hyperterminal and Some Terminal utility to send and receive from PC. That will be small String with Protocol like

^*L1ON# to Turn ON Lamp 1

Interface look should be attractive. Also decide the platform for this GUI.

I am planning to work on PHP. What say?
But before that, can you give me a rough sketch on how the UI should be?

We can add Two or Three CFL/Tubelight/Bulb and two Fan Icon to Turn ON and OFF. πŸ˜€

I think let we release first version. Then we'll keep updating it. What you say?

I'm busy with one project so there is some delay from my side but will be back in march and give one sketch for GUI yes you can control my devices via internet if Praveen confirms that he can give connectivity in his software. πŸ˜€

ashGF, can you tell us more about the hardware you have implemented?

In that hardware i have used RFM22 or RFM70 Module which is connected with USB or Serial Port of PC/Computer and it will simply transfers the string received from PC to the Slave Receiver which is connected at the SwitchBoard side and from that string Receiver decodes the command and according to that i have made some extra circuitry right now simply switching relay to ON and OFF in future we can replace it with contactor for heavy load.

Nice.. so its point to multipoint? i.e, 1 TX -> multiple RX.. one RX for each light/actuator switch with unique addresses each?

Ultimately the FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) manufacturers will have to buy this. I doubt if anyone will look at something which requires a user to have a computer that is on all the time if they have to use this gadget.
Have I missed something here? All devices have to have something on board to respond to the commands as well.
Better to have an informal discussion with some FMCG marketing guys before you start putting in serious effort. I can link you chaps up with some.

Well we can implement One Tx and Multiple Rx too like One Transmitter connected with PC and 2-3 Rx connected at different Switch boards Like to Main Room Board, Kitchen Board,Bed Room Board. And No need to connect individually with Home Aplliances Rx connected at Switchboard will decode the command and Turn ON and OFF devices according to that.

@RamaniSir:- We can use any Gadgets like mobile but for that i have to redesign my hardware which can communicate with bluetooth protocol.
