Pansonic has strengthened its line of powerful toughpads with a new 7-inch tablet named 'Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2', introduced as the company's most flexible Android-powered business tablet yet. As we take a look at the specifications of the new rugged tablet, we find that the company targeting businesses that take advantage of open source OSes and mobile workers who use light apps is just about right. The company has previously launched the 7-inch FZ-M1 & FZ-M1 Value, two tablets that run on Windows 8.1 operating system. With FZ-B2, the family of rugged tablets seems complete. Let's find out more about the new Toughpad's features.

Powered by Intel Celeron Processor N2930 (Quad Core 1.83GHz up to 2.16GHz), the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2 tablet runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS and is loaded with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage capacity. The FZ-B2 tab features a replaceable battery (Something that's not found in most mainstream tablets) that offers 7 hours of run-time on single charge. What's more, Panasonic offers a hot swappable battery set-up option for those who need the tablet to not run out of juice that fast. The 7-inch touchscreen has a WXGA (1280x800) resolution and is said to offer wide viewing angles and work well even in sunlight.

Moving on to connectivity and camera - The tablet comes with a 5 megapixel rear primary camera and a 2 megapixel front web cam. As for keeping connected, the Toughpad FZ-B2 supports WiFi WLAN 802.11ac and Bluetooth v4.0 and also has ports for USB 3.0, microSD, Headset, DC-In and microSIM.. At 18mm the tablet is pretty thin and weighs just 540 g. The tablet also features several apps that can be configured to suit the needs of the users such as - a smart card reader, a vehicle pass through antenna, a 2D barcode reader and WWAN using the Gobi 5000 technology.

Coming to the features that speak for the ruggedness of the tablet, there's IP65 protection for resistance to dust and water and drop testing done to 150 cm. The tablet shall also operate fine in temperatures ranging from -10 to +50°C. Another great aspect of the tablet is the accessories that come with it. These include - a multi-battery charger, a carry case, a passive pen, a Lite-cradle, a vehicle dock and a shoulder-hand-and-rotate strap.

As for availability, the company has shared with the folks over at AndroidCentral that the Panasonic Toughpad FZ-B2 is launching in US in February 2015 for the price of $1,299. What are your guessed for the tablet's price in India? Share with us in comments below.
