OS-agnostic Smartphones & Affordable Smartwatches From Alcatel OneTouch This CES
With days to go for Consumer Electronics Show 2015, Alcatel OneTouch has announced its CES launches. The company has sent out a press release teasing its new smartphone and smartwatch line-up. Although the details are sparse, the company has made quite a wave by announcing the worldâs first OS-agnostic smartphone. Alcatel OneTouchâs PIXI 3 series will have smartphones in four display sizes, 3.5inch, 4inch, 4.5inch and 5inch. The 3.5 inch PIXI 3 will feature 3G connectivity while the rest will support 4G LTE. The smartphones will run either Firefox, Windows Phone or Android operating systems. Since the company remains stingy with details it has not clearly mentioned if it is using the same hardware on all variants but as you can see from the image below they all look the same.
Next they are planning to launch the Alcatel OneTouch Watch series. Alcatel says these smartwatches will be priced 75 percent less than current smartwatches. If you are thinking of buying a PIXI 3 smartphone and pairing it with an Alcatel OneTouch Watch, it has to be the Android variant as the Alcatel OneTouch Watch is compatible with Android devices only. Judging from the official product images we arenât particularly sure if they feature Android Wear or not. These smartwatches will feature activity trackers, smartphone camera remote, music controls and more. We like the fact that Alcatel has tried to emulate Moto 360âs circular watch face. We expect to obtain detailed information about these products when CES 2015 begins on January 6th in Las Vegas.
