  • Opera's latest strategic move consists of partnering with seven Indian OEMs to bring its web browser - Opera Mini pre-installed in the Android devices they manufacture. These mobile manufacturers include - Karbonn, Lava, Intex, Celkon, Fly, Zen and HCL ME. All the smartphones and tablets from these makers that run the Google’s mobile operating system Android will now feature Opera Mini by default in the apps list as users buy these products. This is an interesting move, because even today most consumers do not rely on the Google's app store - Google Play to download & install the apps. There is still the trend of relying on the pre-installed software - this is the reason why iOS users use Safari and Windows users use IE.

It looks like Opera isn't ceasing to make it to the headlines. It was just last week when the company filed a lawsuit against a former employee who allegedly gave away trade secrets to rival Mozilla. Speaking of which, Mozilla's browser Firefox is being widely used in India on the Android Platform and Opera Mini has a long way to go in order to win the population's hearts.
But, it is also interesting to note that Opera's officials claim that their Opera Mini browser is “the most widely used” mobile Web browser in India due to its advanced server compression technology.

Used on iOS, Blackberry as well as Windows, Opera's innovative nature in heavy lifting on its own servers before sending the results to a mobile device, might get it a much-coveted top position if this move becomes a winner. After all, Indian youth is strongly looking forward to a browser that loads their webpages faster on the move and require less data. We are hooked on to know how this works out for Opera Software.
