“Facebook is becoming an increasingly important distribution channel for media companies,” said Bismarck Lepe, president of products and       co-founder, Ooyala. “Because of its 750 million monthly unique users, it offers a compelling complement to distributing video online via YouTube. We expect more and more companies to follow the lead of Warner Brothers, Miramax and Netflix as they build direct to consumer video distribution models on Facebook."

The three features going to be the glamour factors for Ooyala Social were group viewing, Ooyala chatting and Ooyala everywhere. We could easily understand what the group viewing and chatting can do by their names, so we jump onto Ooyala everywhere. Ooyala everywhere athenticates users via Facebook Connect and let them watch HD-Quality videos on any device like tablet, mobile devices, and connected TV. A user who rents a video can start watching it on a Smartphone and in the middle of the video he can take a break and resume watching the video again on any other device like tablet or Google TV.

For now Ooyala targeted Broadcasters, distributors and Hollywood studios by providing them enough in-built social features and other tools to  enable media companies to  grow audiences and to boost viewer engagement. Sooner it will be a platform for making revenue to all sort of video based companies.
