OneWheel is an awesome, self-balancing one wheel skateboard
OneWheel is your awesome, self-balancing one wheel skateboard that guarantees boosting your coolness factor by at least 10x. This personal, electric transporter is simple to use and does some crazy engineer under its thin body. Controlling OneWheel is easy - just lean forward to speed up and lean back to slow down. The makers say that most people should be able to get comfortable within just a few minutes even if they've never tried a boardsport.
The machine is equipped with sophisticated sensors and algorithms to help you balance and control your ride. Under the hood, OneWheel uses a 500W hub motor, direct drive powered by a 48V Lithium Nano-Phosphate (LiFePO4) battery. The control is offered by a custom built 6 DOF MEMS IMU and BLDC driver with self-balancing. The most important part of the machine, its tire, is 11.5x6.5-6 developed by Vega.
With max speeds up to 12 MPH (~20 km/h), you should be able to enjoy a 20 minute ride. The battery will take about 20 minutes to charge on a fast charger or approximately 2 hours on a standard charger. The OneWheel team is currently working on making their product more awesome and need your help on Kickstarter. If you love what these guys are doing, help them with some of your money. The project link is at the bottom of this article.
Self-balancing one-wheeled rides aren't new and we've seen Honda's engineers changing the game with #-Link-Snipped-#. The bigger advantage, we think, OneWheel has is that it can hide right under your desk and be ready for your next ride.
