Nykredit Headquarters In Copenhagen Has Floating Rooms 50 Ft Above Ground

There is never a dearth for innovative ideas in any field. And coming to innovation aspect of architectural designs, the weirder the better! The latest idea that was used in a Copenhagen-based mortgage bank was to have their conference rooms ‘floating’. The Nykredit's headquarters building has the meeting rooms clad in wood suspended 50ft above the ground.

The office building with glass façade is ten storeys tall and has a very large atrium which has good ventilation and sun light. The idea is to use the atrium space to build conference rooms connected to the floors at one end and free at the other end. Three such rooms are constructed in the third and fifth floors.

The whole building has been constructed by using glass façade, balconies, elevators, stairways. This has made the environment look more clean and open. The capacity of the glass façade to absorb the heat and store it has been studied carefully. The award winning Scandinavian architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen has dealt with this problem and has given an effective solution. They have suggested the use of the water from the nearby water body to cool the building and also parts of roof and the double layered façade can be opened to allow more ventilation.
