nVIDIA Vs. AMD: Who's Got Fastest GPU?
When it comes to high end graphics processing, two brands rule the world - nVIDIA and AMD. Both these brands are known to be traditional rivals. The rivalry has taken a new twist recently with AMD throwing #-Link-Snipped-# at nVIDIA to prove their GeForce GTX 590 is the fastest graphics processing card in the market. AMD too, has released Radeon⢠HD 6990 which they claim as the fastest graphics card. While both the claims are official on their respective websites, AMD surely has an edge; as they've the 3DMark.com - Share and compare scores from UL Solutions' benchmarks stats to back their claim; NVIDIA dosen't. ![[IMG]](proxy.php?image=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.crazyengineers.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2011%2F03%2FNVIDIA-AMD.jpg&hash=f9edc0f77402d537137abe3c4c574915)
Now, AMD surely has not challenged their prime competitor without having solid proof and confidence over their hardware. In the blog post, AMD's Dave Erskine writes that with Radeon⢠HD 6990, they tried to be the game changers and believe that they've hit the bulls-eye. The card has hit the highest score of X3303 using the 3D Mark benchmark - an industry standard for the GPU capabilities. He further claims that world's leading GPU reviewers are in agreement that AMD's got the fastest GPU in the market.
It's almost certain that AMD is not happy with their rival's claims about the fastest GPU title. Dave goes on to say "prove it. Don't just say it!" to nVidia. From the reviews, it's very clear that both these graphic cards are faster than other cards in the market. NVIDIA, now has to prove their claim. If they prove it with numbers, AMD will have to go back to their drawing boards to see what improvements they can make. If not, NVIDIA will have to say sorry for misleading press releases.
Overall, this is an interesting battle to follow.
