Jonas Pfeil, a recently graduated computer engineer along with Kristian Hildebrand, Carsten Gremzow, Bernd Bickel, Marc Alexa made a Throwable Panoramic Ball Camera, which is almost at the size of a throw ball takes some high quality panoramic pictures when it is thrown towards the sky and we need to do nothing else. This Throwable Ball Camera could reduce a load of tasks that every one who needs to take a panoramic photo does these days, when they come into market. "Yeah! I told it out loud", they weren't yet ready to enter the market. The team planned to demonstrate this new product at SIGGRAPH ASIA 2011, Hong Kong at the moth of December and when they did that, sure this would enter the tech market a real soon.

Throwable Ball Camera
To take the images, we just need to throw the ball camera into the air. When the ball camera reaches a highest point of flight, that is when the ball is not experiencing much of the motion, it takes a snap shot. This ball camera eliminates the ghosting which is very common when we take panoramic pictures through any of the currently used methods and also reduces a lot of time and work required.
This Ball Camera is build with 36 fixed-focus 2 megapixel mobile phone cameras to take a widely focused panoramic images. Also, these cameras were fitted in a robust way inside a 3D-printed, ball-shaped enclosure with foam surrounded, thus making this ball camera more robust to use. Accelerometers are also employed along with cameras to calculate the launching acceleration and integration was used to find the highest point the ball could reach, in-order to trigger the exposure.
