  • The new desktop PC as the company likes to label it, the Notion Ink Cain 8 tablet has been launched in India at a price of Rs. 9,990. It was in September this year that we saw the arrival of Notion Ink Cain Windows 8.1 Tablet Specs Review | A New 2-in-1 Convertible Arrives convertible tablet-cum-pc featuring a 10.1 inch screen. The new Notion Ink Cain 8 looks like a smaller screen version of the previous tab from the company. We took a look at the tablet's specifications to find out what's new and what not and came up with 10 features that are worth noting. Take a look.

    1. The engine running the Notion Ink Cain8 is a 1.83 GHz quad-core, Intel Bay Trail CR Atom processor, the same as that on the 10.1 inch Cain, and it is equipped with tri-gate 22nm lithography process technology.
    2. Powered by Microsoft's Windows 8.1 OS specially compiled with WIMBOOT, the Cain 8 tablet enjoys one year free subscription of the MS Office 365 apps and Bing search engine app comes pre-loaded.
    3. The 8-inch 5-point capacitive touch screen on the tablet features 1280x800 pixels resolution HD display.
    4. Coming to the storage, the tablet packs 1 GB DDR3L RAM and 16 GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 64 GB via micro SD card. To up their game, they could've added a better RAM size so as to attract the users looking for maximum productivity on the tab. Apart from this, the company offers unlimited OneDrive cloud storage and an additional 8GB SD card for free.
    5. Cameras on the front and rear are 2 megapixel each and we believe the company could've offered a better primary camera.

    6. An impressive 4000 mAh Lithium Polymer battery is located under the hood and it's said to offer 8 hours of video playback time and about 17 hours of audio run-time.
    7. The tablet is 3G enabled, so you can use the data-connectivity on the sim card inside this tablet and access 3G speeds for accessing online apps and browse websites.
    8. As far as the ports on the tablet are concerned, users have all the basics covered including- a microSD Card slot, a micro-HDMI slot, a microUSB slot (for data and charging both) and a 3.5 mm audio-jack.
    9. Among the connectivity options, the tablet's got you all covered, thanks to support for Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, 2G, 3G and Bluetooth v4.0.
    10. At 9 mm, the tablet looks pretty slick and weighs about 370 grams.

With that we come to the end of top 10 features on the new Notion Ink Cain8, which is currently available for buying on Snapdeal. Do let us know your thoughts on the tablet and how do you think its specs fair against the price it is offered at.

Flash anyway is dying and is getting replaced by HTML5. It's just a matter of time that other video formats will become default. Note that Flash eats up battery faster than almost every other thing running on the tab. It's better that flash support is removed.

I hope they survive this time. The adam thingy was a complete disaster and they took a long time to recover from it. Plus, they couldn't manage their customer service operations well resulting into frustrated buyers. I wonder whether Rohan Shravan, their CEO is still with the company.
