  • After the launch of Windows Phone 8.1 OS at the Microsoft’s Build Developers Conference 2014, Nokia unveiled its three new budget-friendly smartphones – Lumia 630, 635 Nokia Lumia 930 Unveiled At Microsoft Build Conference 2014 - Specs at Glance featuring the new OS. Lumia 630 is the first Windows smartphone that supports dual-SIM functionality. The only feature that differentiates Lumia 630 and 635 is that Lumia 635 has LTE Connectivity. Other from that, the two phones are similar in every aspect.

    The Nokia Lumia 630 and 635 sport a 4.5” IPS LCD screen featuring clear black technology with a resolution of 854*480 pixels resulting in a pixel density of 221ppi, all of which is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The devices are powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset which has four Cortex-A7 cores clocked at 1.2GHz and 512MB of RAM. The internal storage available is 8GB and it is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. Both the devices sport the similar 5MP auto-focus rear camera, but no front camera. A 1830mAh battery keeps the phone topped up, which has a standby time of 25 days.

    On the connectivity front, the smartphones support Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB, A-GPS and GLONASS. Lumia 630 will be available in two variants – single SIM and dual-SIM. The single SIM Lumia 630 is priced at $159 and the dual-SIM variant at $169. The 4G capable Lumia 635 will be available in market for $189.

    The new Lumia 630 and 635 owners will be able to enjoy the latest features provided by the Windows Phone 8.1 including the Cortana – personal virtual assistant. The 8.1 update also features notification module called Action center, updated lock-screen, custom tile backgrounds and Internet Explorer 11, etc.

    Lumia 635 would probably be the cheapest phone in India with LTE connectivity. I feel they should have included flash for camera and 1GB RAM, even Lumia 525 has 1GB RAM!
