New Treadmill Design Helps You Wash Clothes While You Burn Calories

Worldwide obesity has nearly doubled since 1980. In 2008, more than 1.4 billion adults were found overweight. Of these, over 200 million men and nearly 300 million women were obese. 65% of the world's population live in countries where obesity kills more people than underweight. This is all of course, preventable. All that we need to do is exercise. And now you have a bigger incentive associated with is. What if you can get some of your work done while doing the regular exercise? It could definitely help in building up some motivation. Well, that's where "The Wheel" comes into a picture. It is nothing but a treadmill that washes your clothes.

Design Wheel

Although still a concept, it would be amazing to have something like this for real. The work of industrial designer Si Hyeong Ryuuses, "The Wheel" uses the kinetic energy generated by running for something washing your clothes. The device that looks like a hamster wheel and loading it is quite easy too. Fill it with detergent and water along with some dirty clothes. It also reduces the amount of water you have to use. The surplus power generated can also be saved on a battery in order to run the washing machine, in case you don’t have the time (or the will) to run daily.

One of the many designs at the 2014 Electrolux Design Lab, a contest with a theme “the Home of Tomorrow”, The Wheel will be up against concepts like Pecera, robot fish that clean your clothes, and the Lightsaber Knife.

    That's kinda cool concept.

I love the type of experiments that can be proved beneficial in day to day life and this is one of them. Exercise is our basic need, and so is washing cloth and saving electricity. and if we get all the things with single effort that will be awesome !!!
