Not long after Yahoo's acquisition of Tumblr, they have announced a brand new design of Flickr. The announcement took place at a press event in New York on Monday, where Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer unveiled a lot more than just the new look. Now Flickr is giving its users a TeraByte of storage which is humongous. With so much storage one person can store exactly 537,731 photos (considering each photo to be 6.5 MegaPixel in size). This means that you could actually upload all the photos you have ever taken and still there would be room for more. Now you don't need to worry anymore about compressing your images and you can upload them in full resolution straight away.

The new design includes a cover photo at the top, tiled view for your photostream that maintains the resolution, sleek UI in the Flickr app and many more advances in the interface. They have included terms like Biggr, which is for the increased storage, Spectaculr, for being able to upload full resolution images and Wherevr, to be able to upload photos on the go from your Android or iOS device, which is a sign of a mock up to Tumblr. Another advantage of Flickr would be that you could share your photos on other platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Tumblr. Flickr currently houses 89 million people worldwide who have contributed around 8 billion photographs.

At the same event, they also announced that they have found a new office at the old New York Times building for its 500 New York employees with space for an expansion for another 200. The revelation of the new design for Flickr was not connected to the acquisition of Tumblr as emphasized by Mayer. With such a positive and overwhelming redesign, do you think that Flickr would finally be able to make a comeback as the best photo sharing service like old times?

New design feels little cluttered but that how changes works.
Site is loading fast and responsive.
    1TB storage👍, heaven for photographers 😁.
I never have to worry about where to store my good photos.
One of the best thing with Flickr that it never degrades photo quality, Facebook is horror in this area. Google+ is somehow good with photo qualities.
Awesome move Yahoo, Flickr is reborn😍

Wo! That is the best it can be. An awesome design, colours all around! Totally liked it.
This might be that big move to get back the top most spot. I migrated to Panoramio long back due to that very very boring design of Flikr. Panoramio felt quite easy and light back then. With this new design, flikr looks inviting 😁
