New Amazon Kindle Paperwhite e-Readers Available. Prices Start Rs 10,999 Onwards.

Amazon had announced for pre-order its latest Wi-Fi enabled Kindle Paperwhite earlier this year, and the e-reader is now officialy available for Rs 10,999 across several Indian retail stores. The device comes in two variants -- WiFi and 3G -- priced at Rs 10,999/- and Rs 13,999/- respectively. The Kindle Paperwhite features a 6 inch display with 212 ppi pixel density. The device measures 9.1 mm in thickness and weighs 206 grams. It has 2 GB storage of which 1.25 GB is available to users.

The device features a new processor that's 25 percent faster than earlier Kindle models. The page-turnings and book-openings have been made faster for a seamless user experience. The screen incorporates the latest capacitive touch technology, that responds sharp even to the slightest of touches. Also, this new Kindle Paperwhite includes better contrast levels. The company has introduced a new Page Flip feature, that lets readers skim through the pages, scan chapters, and view the very end page for a quickie look. Shunning the back-lit display adorned by many tablets, the device guides light towards the surface offering a comfortable strain-free read. Apart from this, a Smart Lookup feature, complete with a dictionary, X-Ray and Wikipedia link lets readers access definitions, settings, characters, without shifting to another device. Now only if it could make calls.
