Project Abstract / Summary : The project aims at monitoring the exhaust of a highway vehicle using sensors. Fuel economy and the time required for maintenance period is calculated, and displayed to the user by using a display suitable for the automobile. In addition to that, a message can also be delivered to the owner’s mobile if necessary. This project also proposes the creation of a national database which can maintain necessary information of automobiles around the nation. At the toll gates, the information calculated above can be transmitted along with the registration information of the vehicle and collected to form a national database by installing RF transceivers at the engine part and toll gates. This database can be maintained at the pollution control board, which can enforce the laws accordingly for reduction in pollution.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : The reason for choosing this topic is to reduce air pollution and save the fuel resource. 60% of air pollution is due to the visible exhaust of automobiles which is due to improper maintenance of the vehicle.Improperly maintained vehicle tends to consume more fuel than required. Hence our project informs the user the time required for the maintenance of their vehicle and also displays it's fuel economy. These details are also sent to the respective owner's mobile by installing a GSM module. By creating a database all these information can be controlled by a pollution control board and hence it can be ensured that all vehicles are maintained properly.
