Project Abstract / Summary : MODIFICATIONS FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE PERFORMANCE OF VORTEX TUBE
Vortex tube is a simple energy separating device which is compact and simple to produce and operate. Although intensive research has been carried out in many countries over the years, the efficiency is still low. In order to improve the energy separate efficiency of vortex tube, three innovative technologies are considering to be applied to vortex tube. A new nozzle with equal gradient of Mach number and a new intake flow passage of nozzles with equal flow velocity will be designed and developed to reduce the flow loss.A new kind of diffuser will be installed for reducing friction loss of air flow energy at the end of the hot end tube of vortex tube, which can greatly improve the performance of vortex tube. Thus the experiment results indicate that these modifications could remarkably improve the performance of vortex tube. And the developed vortex tube will be superior to the conventional vortex tube.
Why did you choose to work on this project topic : We are passionate about our core branch(mechanical). we love almost all subjects that we had a tough choice to choose a topic for our final year project. So, we decided to select a topic which can cover most of our subjects. Eventually we ended up choosing this topic as our final year project.
