Xiaomi Mi3 owners may want to head over to the settings section of their phone to update the firmware. Xiaomi has started rolling out the brand new MIUI 6 update to all the Mi3 phones in India. The update is being provided over the air (OTA) and will bring the freshness of the latest UI updates offered by MIUI. Most notably, MIUI brings the 'flat' design philosophy to the MI phones.

The update is about 540MB in size (V6.3.2.0.KXDIBL) and it's recommended that you should download it via your local internet (wi-fi). Downloading the update over your 3G plan is likely to exhaust it or incur lot of charges. Is is worth updating your phone to the latest MIUI 6? Let's find out what's new -

The MIUI 6 will make your phone boot faster and will change the look and feel of most common apps viz. weather, FM Radio, Calculator; even the home and lock screens are different. Users can expect MIUI V6 to be lighter on memory (RAM) than V5. The browser is reportedly faster in the latest version over the older one. MIUI 6 also improves the color depth for both front and rear cameras. Overall, there's nothing to lose and lot of new things to have with the new firmware.

It's expected that MIUI 6 will roll out to Redmi 1s and Redmi Note in the next 2-4 weeks for all the users in India. Do share your thoughts on the new UI with us through comments below.

Yeah, it's based on Lollipop. I'm bit surprised though that they rolled it out so far. AndroidAuthority reported that MIUI is just starting to test the firmware on January 26.
