Microsoft has decided to do away with its popular feature: #-Link-Snipped-#But the reason for this sudden decision is not clear in Microsoft’s statement yesterday. This #-Link-Snipped-# came along with another windows phone update. The windows update 8107 has been made available to all the carriers who had requested for it. To know the details as to what has been included, you can visit #-Link-Snipped-# on Windows Phone website.

The Microsoft said that they will continue to send the updates but only to those who ask for it and so others will not receive and in fact they might not even require it. No details regarding the updates will be available on the official blog hereon. All that you’ll get is a pop up in your mobile notifying you about an update available. It has been clearly stated that the where’s my Phone update will not be used to detail country, model, and carrier details for each and every update.

The website will be primarily used for news and information alone. Incase you have questions you can use Microsoft Answers feature and for suggestions you have #-Link-Snipped-#. Some say that the decision may be due to the release of 8107 itself. 8107 allows carriers to revoke a bevy of digital certificates allowing them to prohibit any future security and performance fixes well ahead of time. The general mood is that it takes away the transparency of operations and obviously the users are not happy. One must have to wait to see if their unease is strong enough to make Microsoft go back in the decision.
